In an audition, don't take the middle of the road approach with your material, make a strong choice so that the casting director after listening to 60 people do the same material has a reason to look up. Find a way to connect to the material that is uniquely you.

If you are called to audition on the same day treat it like gold, your chances of booking are dramatically up because they are in an emergency.

Agent tip:
Promote yourself on Youtube, It's a tool used by the industry all the time. Who knows who will see it and where it could end up.
Make sure your agent (or if you are interviewing with an agent) knows you are working hard on your own to get yourself out there.  Let them know which casting director workshops you are attending, (this can be very useful when the agent is submitting you or talking to the casting director) who you are taking classes with and and that you can be redirected in the room in an audition"
